The Joint Admissions Matriculation Board (JAMB) has announced the commencement of 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) conversion into Direct Entry (DE) for candidates with higher qualifications. This applies to candidates who have:
- OND / ND (Ordinary or National Diploma)
- NCE (Nigeria Certificate in Education)
- HND (Higher National Diploma)
- First degree (B.A., B.Sc., B.Ed., etc.)
- IJMB / JUPEB / Cambridge A-Levels or equivalent advanced level qualifications
Basically, these are people who don’t need to start from 100 Level but can begin from 200 Level or higher in university, so JAMB allows them to convert their UTME registration to DE to match their academic status.
The commencement's announcement was made via the exam organizer's X page where they further emphasized that the conversion service is available at all its Professional Registration Centres (PRCs) across Nigeria.

How to Convert UTME to DE
So, if you're one of the eligible candidates, the UTME-DE conversion will be seamless for you. Based on the previous conversion and what JAMB has said in their announcement via X, you'll need to visit a JAMB office or an authorised Professional Registration Centre to carry out the conversion.
Follow these steps to carryout the UTME to Direct Entry (DE) conversion:
- Visit the JAMB office or accredited PRC in your city.
- Go with relevant documents. The documents that are required are based on your certification and A'Level results.
- Required documents may include UTME result slip, diploma or NCE certificates, A-level results, JAMB e-PIN for UTME to DE conversion (to be purchased), and other qualifications acceptable for DE.
- An official in the office will guide you through all the conversion processes.
- Once done with the application, you'll need to pay the conversion fee which is the standard DE registration fee, which is ₦5,700.
- Meanwhile, additional charges such as service fees and transaction fees may apply.
